Cathedral Open for Private Prayer, 3/18, 7:30am-12:30pm

A Message from Cathedral Pastor Fr. Robert Marshall

Mindful of our need for prayer at this difficult time, the Cathedral will be open for private prayer tomorrow (Wednesday, March 18) from 7:30am until 12:30pm.  This coincides with the times ICCS students/parents are being asked to come to the campus to pick up materials needed for distance learning.  All who come to the Cathedral are asked to observe Social Distancing guidelines (click here for guidelines).  A daily schedule of hours when the Cathedral will be open, including times for Eucharistic Adoration, will be announced later in the week.

Here is a prayer that is circulating the internet.  I invite you to include it in your daily prayer at this time.

A prayer for a Pandemic

May we who are merely inconvenienced

remember those whose lives are at stake.

May we who have no risk factors

remember those most vulnerable.

May we who have the luxury of working from home

remember those who must choose

between preserving their health or making their rent.

May we who have the flexibility to care for our children

when their schools close

remember those whose children who will go hungry with no school meals.

May we who have to cancel our trips

remember those with no place to go.

May we who are losing our margin money

in the tumult of the economic market

remember those who have no margin at all.

May we who settle in for quarantine at home

remember those who have no home.

As fear grips our country

let us choose love.

During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other

Let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God

to our neighbor.

Through Jesus Christ, whose arms of love embrace us all.
